SGS Discusses Regulations for Safety Attractions with Representatives from the Mayor’s Office in Almaty
In early June, specialists from the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Republic of Kazakhstan, under the local mayor’s office in Almaty, met with SGS.
During the meeting, a number of issues regarding the safety requirements of the Technical Regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union "On the Safety of Attractions" (TR EAEU 038/2016) were discussed.
TR EAEU 038/2016, adopted on April 18, 2016, applies to attractions such as Ferris wheels, catapults, swings, go-karts, slides, electric cars, water attractions and even inflatable trampolines.
The technical regulation establishes the necessary requirements for the safety of attractions and related processes of design, manufacture, assembly, installation, adjustment, operation, storage, transportation and disposal to protect human life and health, property and environment and prevent actions that mislead consumers.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place, along with a productive conversation regarding the expansion of SGS’s mobile testing laboratory to conduct tests of attractions in accordance with safety requirements.
As of 2021, the modern attraction industry has gone a long way. Attractions are capable not of only delivering pleasure, but also of causing serious harm to both for adults and children. Therefore, ensuring the safety of attractions must be given very serious attention.
