Following the publication of ISO 45001:2018 in March 2018, organizations have three years to migrate from OHSAS 18001 to the new standard. During this time, OHSAS 18001 certifications will remain valid until migration. At the end of this period, OHSAS 18001 certification will no longer be available.

With the recent release of the ISO 45001:2018 standard, all migrations from OHSAS 18001 must be completed before March 12, 2021, including closures of any non-conformances and certification decisions. OHSAS certificates are not valid beyond this date. Therefore, all audits conducted after March 12, 2020 should be conducted against ISO 45001, either as migration, initial or recertification audits.
